We gave Tsukiyo Sushi a try after seeing it listed under Beli’s Top 5 New LA Restaurants of 2025. I called ahead on Monday to ask if we could walk in. They said it was fine, but we cut it kinda close as only the bar was available by the time we got there around 7:30pm. The inside of the restaurant was smaller than I expected. There’s a bar, of course, in front of the sushi chefs, a small handful of tables, and some more private elevated tatami seating rooms. I would definitely recommend making a reservation. Parking is valet and is $4 for dinner time. Value was great. I had the sushi set dinner for $30 which came with 12 pieces of nigiri sushi. The sushi was fresh and delicious. We also had the Uni Pasta, which was very good. The sauce was very creamy, and the uni tasted great. The herbs on top added a much appreciated freshness and cut through the rich sauce. I also ordered the Ume Fizz cocktail, but didn’t get to enjoy it because they forgot about it. I had to remind the staff that I ordered it, and by that point we were more than halfway through our meal. The highball cocktail was good though - fizzy and smooth. The liquor virtually disappears into the drink. It’s a shame I was only able to take a couple sips since our meal was almost over and I had to drive later. Service in general could use improvement. Not only did they forget my drink, it was difficult to get a server’s attention to bring it up. Regardless of the service, the meal was delicious, reasonably priced, and relatively quick.

I visited Tsukiyo Sushi for the first time to host a very important guest, and the experience exceeded all expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by how clean and well-maintained the restaurant was. The private room–style seating immediately caught my attention. The setup, where you remove your shoes and sit at low tables, reminded me of Korea in the early 2000s and brought back a sense of nostalgia. It was surprising in the best way. I ordered the chirashi don, and I was genuinely amazed. The sashimi was sliced very thick, extremely fresh, and the portion size was very generous for the price. Considering that three people can easily spend $80 (including tip) at an average restaurant, it was shocking—in a good way—that three of us could enjoy such high-quality, refined Japanese cuisine for around $100. This is a place I would strongly recommend for important meetings or special occasions. Every staff member was incredibly well-trained, attentive, and kind. I don’t know if this comes from traditional Japanese hospitality, but seeing staff kneel to greet guests in a foreign country was both surprising and deeply impressive. Tsukiyo Sushi delivers not just great food, but genuine hospitality and respect for guests. I will absolutely return.

The food was incredibly good. We got the chef's selection of nigiri - 12 pieces that change every day and the Vegas roll. They were both some of the best sushi my friend and I have ever had. The drinks are good and the staff is kind and efficient. Prices were super reasonable given the outstanding quality. We had a 30 minute wait, but that's to be expected since we showed up at dinner time without a reservation. Parking was a little tricky, but not horrible. Highly recommend this place.

We found Tsukiyo Sushi randomly while searching online for a good sushi spot, and overall it did not disappoint. The fish was fresh and delicious, and we really enjoyed the wide variety of options--signature maki rolls, nigiri, and their signature izakaya dishes. Some standout izakaya items for us were the Saba Bouzushi and Rolls Royce, both packed with great flavor. The Tuna Crispy Rice was excellent as well- but we didn't know the pieces were so big, so we definitely over ordered on that one. The grilled mentaiko was a miss for us though--the texture and flavor just didn't work. For signature maki rolls, the Red Dragon Roll and Salmon Crunch Roll were excellent. The Salmon Crunch had fried onions, which we thought might be too overpowering, but it was actually really well balanced and tasty. The nigiri was also very good, though a few pieces were a bit too fatty for our preference. The menu is huge with plenty of options for everyone and very easy to share. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, which unfortunately means longer wait times. We waited past our quoted time, which was frustrating, and because it was close to closing, service felt a little rushed. That said, we did get to sit at a traditional Japanese floor table, which was a fun experience. The staff was friendly and service overall was good. Parking is easy with a free parking lot, and menu prices are fair--maybe slightly on the higher side, but reasonable for the quality. The only real downsides were the long wait, feeling rushed near closing, and noticing some fruit flies in the restaurant. Despite those issues, we had a great experience overall and would definitely come back.
